Historian Heinz Nauer undertook research in archives of Louisville, St. Meinrad, Indiana, and Frankfort, Kentucky about the motives and experiences of emigrants from Einsiedeln, while the photographer and graphic designer Paolo de Caro and the filming specialist Martina di Lorenzo pursued their craft and Susann Bosshard-Kälin undertook interviews.

The team undertook the tasks with a minimal budget, but with idealism for an enterprise they valued.
