A special example is Louisville, Kentucky, in the USA. Still today, numerous descendants of people who had emigrated from Einsiedeln have their home there. Susann Bosshard-Kälin has written for them the book "Einsiedeln Elsewhere – Presence of a Swiss Village of Central Switzerland in the American State Kentucky".
Many emigrated from Switzerland to partake in the resettling of the lands taken by force from the expelled or destroyed original inhabitants. Whole new invader ethnic communities thus emerged, among them also some by Swiss. Immigrants often became farmers, especially also of keeping cattle for milk production. A legend further reports that people from Einsiedeln had invented the cheeseburger. Today only fragmentary memories of Einsiedeln remain, Susann Bosshard-Kälin observes an in the program of RaBe, and that the view of Switzerland was in part idealized. To her it is important to preserve the historical data before they vanish.
